The Resonator™, the Bad, and The Ugly Pico-Tesla, Magnetic Therapies has launched several studies and clinical trials investigating the effectiveness of a new magnetic field therapy device. The Resonator™ device uses Magneceutical® Therapy, or electro-magnetic stimulation, in treating patients suffering from a variety of disorders and diseases. This non-invasive device uses precisely tuned, extremely low level electromagnetic fields around the whole body to relieve symptoms . The Resonator™ is not the first form of magnetic therapy, but it is an improvement on some of the current therapies being used today. Companies, like Nikken®, have been using magnets in healthcare for decades. Nikken produces a wide range of magnetic therapy products, such as sleep systems, jewelry and water, to help keep people healthy and improve quality of life. Like Nikken, Pico-Tesla’s magnet therapies are natural and non-invasive, but instead of focusing all magnetic energy on just one area of the body, the Resonator™ device uses whole body immersion to treat the disease. Additionally, Nikken’s products rely on static magnetic fields (ie one field strength), Pico-Tesla’s system utilizes precisely tuned magnetic fields that change depending upon the disease or condition being treated. Resonator™ Device Versus TMS and rTMS Doctors have also used Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) or Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) to treat medical conditions. These procedures are thought to work by sparking electrical currents in tissue using a non-invasive stimulating coil at frequencies of up to 100Hz. The coil is placed close to the intended site of stimulation so that short magnetic pulses can be administered transcranially to a subject. This magnetic treatment stimulates the brain in a way that may change the electrical activity of the brain’s nerve cell. While both therapies are non-invasive and don’t require sedation, allowing patients to return to normal activity immediately, TMS and rTMS creates a much stronger magnetic field than the Resonator™ device, closer to that of MRI machines. Pico-Tesla’s field strengths are a “Trillion” times smaller than those used in typical TMS or rTMS therapies. Additionally, magnetic fields used in TMS/rTMS are directed into the brain, whereas the magnetic fields of the Resonator™ device are delivered over the entire body, thus providing a larger target area for relief.
