Pico-Tesla cites in vivo study at the
University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center
that suggests low-level electromagnetic fields (EMFs) can
prevent and reverse involuntary remodeling of the heart
caused by atrial fibrillation (A-Fib)
Study to be submitted for publication confirms
earlier study (“Magnetism and Cardiac Arrhythmias)
published in Cardiology in Review
“Use of electromagnetic fields can suppress atrial fibrillation.”
Benjamin J. Scherlag, Ph.D., professor of medicine, Heart Rhythm
Institute, Univ. of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center
LITTLETON, Colo., May 24, 2010 — Pico-Tesla, The Magneceutical™ Company, today cited
data from an in vivo study recently completed at the Univ. of Oklahoma’s Heart Rhythm Institute
that suggests extremely low-level electromagnetic fields (EMFs) can prevent and reverse
involuntary remodeling of the heart by terminating and preventing atrial fibrillation (A-Fib).
The principal investigator for the study was Benjamin J. Scherlag, Ph.D., and Sunny S. Po,
M.D., Ph.D. of the Heart Rhythm Institute, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
An earlier study at the Heart Rhythm Institute—“Magnetism and Cardiac Arrhythmias,”
Cardiology in Review, March/April 2004)—also concluded that “…EMF…(is) effective in
suppressing atrial fibrillation.”
“If this result can be replicated in a human study, then it may represent a non-invasive treatment
option that would have significant benefits over the current treatment standards (e.g., drugs and/or
cardio ablation procedures),” said Dr. Scherlag.
Pico-Tesla’s Magneceutical® Therapy involves the use of an extremely low-level electromagnetic
field (EMF) applied by a specially designed device—the Resonator™, invented by Dr. Jerry I.
Jacobson, along with proprietary therapeutic protocols—intended to improve a number of the
signs and symptoms of major diseases. Pico-Tesla is currently sponsoring clinical trials for
both Parkinson’s disease and type 2 diabetes.
“This is an exciting milestone, as it is a demonstration of a distinct biologic effect utilizing our
technology and a major disease. Accordingly, we are in discussions with leading cardiology
groups regarding the design and implementation of an exploratory study involving men and
women with paroxsysmal A-Fib,” added Allen Braswell, CEO of Pico-Tesla.
Privately held Pico-Tesla Magnetic Therapies is an emerging medical technology company based
in Clearwater, Florida.
CAUTION: The Resonator™ device is an Investigational Device limited by federal (or United States) law
to investigational use. The Resonator™ device is not for sale, nor is the Magneceutical® Therapy generally
available outside of Investigational Review Board (IRB)-approved clinical studies.
