Pico-Tesla’s Magneceutical® Therapy featured in this month’s EP Lab Digest

In vivo study at Univ. of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center suggests low-level electromagnetic fields (EMFs) can prevent and reverse involuntary remodeling of the heart caused by atrial fibrillation (A-Fib)

“Use of electromagnetic fields can suppress atrial fibrillation.” Benjamin J. Scherlag, Ph.D., professor of medicine, Heart Rhythm Institute, Univ. of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center

LITTLETON, Colo., Aug. 10, 2010 —Emerging medical technology company Pico-Tesla, The Magneceutical® Company, announced today that its Magneceutical® Therapy and Resonator™ devi ce are featured in this month’s issue of EP Lab Digest. The article — “On the Horizon: Using Low-Level Electromagnetic Fields to Treat Atrial Fibrillation” — was written by Jodie Elrod, editor of EP Lab Digest.

In May 2010, Pico-Tesla announced data from an in vivo study completed at the Univ. of Oklahoma’s Heart Rhythm Institute that suggests extremely low-level electromagnetic fields (EMFs) can prevent and reverse involuntary remodeling of the heart by terminating and preventing atrial fibrillation (A-Fib). The principal investigator for the study was Benjamin J. Scherlag, Ph.D., and Sunny S. Po, M.D., Ph.D. of the Heart Rhythm Institute, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

Pico-Tesla’s Magneceutical® Therapy involves the use of an extremely low-level electromagnetic field (EMF) applied by a specially designed device—the Resonator™, invented by Dr. Jerry I. Jacobson, along with proprietary therapeutic protocols—intended to improve a number of the signs and symptoms of major diseases. Pico-Tesla is currently sponsoring clinical trials for both Parkinson’s disease and type-2 diabetes, and expects to begin a clinical trial for A-Fib in the fourth quarter of this year.

“We strongly believe that there is a distinct biologic effect utilizing our technology to treat A-Fib, and we are finalizing details with leading cardiology groups for an exploratory study that includes men and women with paroxsysmal A-Fib,” said Allen Braswell, CEO of Pico-Tesla.
